Back in 1981, whilst at Chew Valley School, Mr Guard advised me to apply for an apprenticeship with Courage Brewery, with the words "people will never stop drinking beer"! I did apply and this has led to a brilliant career as a maintenance engineer. I will always be grateful to him for that. I will raise a glass in his memory. Cheers.
